We’re hiring!
Part-Time LPC Contractor
Specializing in Religious Trauma, Faith Deconstruction, and Complex PTSD
Location: Remote
Schedule: Very part-time (5–10 clients/week to start)
Contractor Role
About Unraveling Free
Unraveling Free is a therapy and coaching practice supporting people who are healing from religious trauma, faith transitions, and high-control belief systems. Our work centers curiosity over compliance, nervous system regulation over behavior management, and meaning-making over pathology.
We serve clients who are often thoughtful, sensitive, justice-oriented, and navigating the grief, anger, and identity shifts that come with disentangling from rigid belief systems.
The Role
We are seeking a licensed mental health therapist to join our practice as a part-time contractor, working primarily with adults healing from religious trauma and related concerns (anxiety, shame, relational rupture, identity loss, people-pleasing, spiritual abuse).
This role is ideal for someone who:
Wants low hours, high alignment
Enjoys depth work without productivity pressure
Values autonomy and thoughtful clinical care
Desires growth (open to case consultation, trainings, etc)
Responsibilities
Provide individual therapy to adult clients (telehealth)
Hold a trauma-informed, non-coercive therapeutic stance
Collaborate as needed with the practice owners (case consultation, values alignment)
Maintain timely documentation in a simple EHR system
Required Qualifications
Active LPC, LMFT, or LCSW license in any state
Experience and/or training working with religious trauma, spiritual abuse, or faith deconstruction
Strong grounding in trauma-informed care (somatic, IFS, attachment-based, or nervous-system-aware approaches welcome)
Comfort working with clients who are questioning or leaving organized religion
Commitment to non-pathologizing, client-centered practice
Open to working as a coach with clients throughout the US
Strongly Preferred
Lived experience with faith transition or religious systems (not required, but deeply valued)
Familiarity with high-control dynamics, purity culture, or authoritarian family/religious structures
Experience integrating identity, grief, and meaning-making into therapy
What This Is Not
This role is not a fit for clinicians who:
Rely heavily on rigid CBT-only frameworks for trauma work
View faith deconstruction as a symptom to be “resolved”
Struggle to view symptoms as a product of systemic harm, not solely individual responsibility
Are uncomfortable discussing power, control, or systemic harm in religious contexts
Clinicians who struggle to work with neurodivergent individuals in an affirming, non behavior-modifying way
Compensation & Structure
Competitive per-session contractor rate (65%)
Flexible scheduling
Very part-time caseload with room to adjust slowly
No expectation to build a full caseload or “scale”
