THERAPY & COACHING

Giving the spiritually hurt or homeless a place to process, heal, & experience freedom

We provide therapy for those who have experienced church hurt, deconstruction, or spiritual trauma.

When faith structures and belief systems that used to bring a sense of peace, containment, and belonging end up feeling like weapons used to oppress, wound, and instill fear, it can feel like your whole world is unraveling.

Without a space to process and heal from these wounds, the sense of being unraveled stays even if you’ve physically left the harm behind. Instead of feeling free, you’re left with pieces that have no place, often few who understand, and a whole lot of shame and guilt.

Experience Connection.

When you can experience connection with someone who wants to hear your story, who doesn’t judge you or spiritually bypass you, who empathizes with the harm you have been through, you can start to leave the shame and guilt behind and discover a more free, authentic you.

The hope is that the space we hold for you can be a “home base” from which you get to take risks, be brave, wrestle, explore, and try on freer ways of existing in your body.

Meet the Therapists

We created Unraveling Free after seeing a very real need from friends and clients for a place they could go to explore and make sense of their shifting faith. For those who have grown up in Evangelical or fundamentalist Christian traditions, there are so many nuances that can be hard for a therapist who hasn’t experienced them personally to understand. After years of working through doubt and deconstruction, we feel that we can help others do the same as they navigate their own beliefs and ways they may have been affected or hurt by the church.

How We Can Help

There are many topics related to a loss or change in faith that could be addressed together. Some topics that may be prevalent include doubt & deconstruction, church hurt or abuse, religious trauma, issues related to sex and sexuality, shame, parenting, rebuilding after faith loss, and more. kind words about Casey & Kendra from others

“After a relationship that involved spiritual abuse, and eventually leaving Christianity, Casey was someone safe that I could always talk to. She was always kind and understanding, and it meant so much to have that, especially when a lot of the other people in my life didn’t understand.”

— J

“Kendra is empathetic, wise, and most importantly, safe. She is a truly genuine soul; a well trained and effective therapist, but always aware of the importance of authentic human connection in a session. I highly recommend her if you’re looking to process trauma— especially religious trauma and the ways your faith beliefs may transition as a result.”
— S

“Finding a counselor who is able to really speak into your own experience is not easy. Casey has so much empathy for others, and passion for her work. She has helpful tools and insights in what feels like a very important but overlooked area of religious trauma and healing.”

— M
