ABOUT THE THERAPIST

Alyssa Gibbons, Masters-Level Intern

I am passionate about walking alongside individuals in the places where they feel most broken, stuck, or hopeless — and helping them find healing, freedom, and renewed hope. I have a deep desire to walk with those who have been or are in ministry and are burnt out, broken, or needing support while they support so many others. I have the most experience with adults and couples working with relationship difficulties, depression and anxiety, and hopelessness. I am eager to expand and work with those from any walk of life, paying close attention to how your past experiences, relationships, and stories you’ve been told shape your present reality.

Hey! I’m Alyssa - so glad you made it to this page!

I believe deeply that you have the capacity for change, growth, and resilience. Although this may not always feel like it is true for you, therapy with me surrounds doing meaningful work that will lead to your long-term healing, transformation, and wholeness. I will champion you as we collaborate to work through what you bring into the room.

My goal is to help you reconnect with your voice, your worth, and your story. Together, we will work to untangle what has held you back, no matter how messy that may seem, and move toward the life you want to live — with hope, clarity, and renewed strength.

  • I was raised in the evangelical Christian church for most of my life, heavily involved in youth groups and ministry for many years. In my time in the church, I have experienced major church hurt through harmful theological teaching, misuse of power from those in authority, and burnout in my own passions and adventures.

I have watched those in ministry leadership positions fall short and fail those around them through infidelity, misuse of church finances, and disconnect between what they teach or preach and how they live their lives. Although these unhealthy situations were not where I stayed, I became increasingly more passionate about making sure that others did not experience the brokenness that I had been victim to.

    • Master of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies, Denver Seminary, 2025 (in progress)

  • While I care deeply about doing deep, hard, heart work, I also value laughter and having fun! If I’m not working, in class, or doing homework, I love to play outside, from camping to stand-up paddle boarding, as well as spending time with my friends and family and eating good food with the people I love! My interests include film photography, moving my body however I can in the day, playing my guitar and always learning a new board game for game nights!

“Learning what it can look like to move away from an unhealthy view of God is such a specific need that Casey is able to fill. She has personal knowledge, but also has professional resources and training, and I would recommend her to anyone- especially to those coming to terms with a post-evangelical worldview.” - C
